May 2018

I wondered what I could do to make a difference and contribute to the World. There are so many horror stories about the state the planet is in and feeling helpless (in my own experience) achieves absolutely nothing.

I wondered what impact I might make, would it be significant enough? What if significant was a simple gesture, a step, an action, an act of kindness, a donation of time or money?

I knew I was drawn to a bigger purpose and that it would continue to nag away at me until I did something about it.

I was at a United Nations Association meeting with Clive Wilson from Primeast when I was profoundly affected by his presentation about the UN Sustainable Development Goals. They are all significant but three, in particular, jumped out at me. Click on each to read in more detail - www.un.org.

I was excited, very excited but at the same time a little voice inside of me started to sow the seed of doubt, like how was I going to make a difference, there was just me, did I have what it took, I didn't have the spare funds to build a boarding house or put a large number of children through school. And Clive asked me in a very simple and matter of fact way. "Who are you not to?"  A powerful question to which I had no answer.

It was clearly the gentle kick up the a*** that I needed.

I cannot imagine a world where we no longer have wild animals roaming their natural habitats, I cannot imagine my children's children and their children only being able to reference what an elephant or rhino looks like through images on the internet or in a mock-up in a museum, can you?

Here I am two months away from leading a group of local business colleagues down the mighty Zambezi River in canoes, (sleeping on islands under the stars) to help make a difference to the lives of these children as well as supporting conservation and sustainable living in the area.

I have been humbled and astounded by the generosity of friends, family and my wider support network, who have donated some amazing raffle and auction prizes.

Collaboratively we can make a huge difference. I cannot do this alone, so I am asking for your help.

Would you please share with your extended networks as I am sure someone out there will benefit from the prizes and they, in turn, will also be making a difference and contributing to changing the lives of many disadvantaged children and their communities.

NB - This trip is self-funded by each participant so ALL monies raised go directly to the kids.

If you have a team and like to offer them incentives, this auction prize may be for you, or alternatively, you may entertain or like to thank your clients? Your chance to bid here:  The Zambian Connection

Thank you for your interest and support.
